BUTCHER BABIES‘ cover version of NAPOLEON XIV‘s “They’re Coming To Take Me Away” is available for streaming below.

BUTCHER BABIESCarla Harvey (vocals) comments: “It was a blast recording songs that we have been fans of our entire lives and putting our spin on them.

“We all chose a song that had some significance to us. My pick was ‘They’re Coming To Take Me Away’ by NAPOLEAN XIV, because I have a vivid memory of my stepdad, who I considered completely insane, playing it over and over again on his car stereo when I was a pre-teen. The song is about being taken away to a mental institution. I can still see him tapping his fingers on his steering wheel to the beat…”

BUTCHER BABIESHeidi Shepherd (vocals) adds: “As an eight or nine-year-old little girl, I used to rummage through my parents’ albums and 8-tracks looking for some cool music. In hopes that my parents had at least a little bit of good taste, I would play every single song looking for something that I could latch on to. That’s when I came across ‘Crazy Horses’ by THE OSMONDS; it was the heaviest song I had heard at that age. I would play that song over and over and over again, I was addicted. To this date, it’s still one of my favorite songs and reminds me so much of growing up in Provo, Utah.”

In regards to BUTCHER BABIES‘ cover of THE OSMONDS“Crazy Horses”, Donny Osmond comments: “When we released ‘Crazy Horses”, we were pushing against what THE OSMONDS were known for, but it became a greatest hit. The BUTCHER BABIES have reinvented this song in a creative and innovative way — and that’s what music is about. Now…What if I had recorded ‘Puppy Love’ like this?”

Ex Libris Loses Two Members.

Ex Libris PromoThe following article was posted on Ex Libris Facebook page earlier today.
A TIME OF CHANGE

Dear friends, fans and followers:

We have some sad news to report. Unfortunately as of last June Paul van den Broek, who has been a part of Ex Libris since the very beginning, has decided to leave the band. We are very sorry to see him go, as we have been, and always will be, great friends! There´s no bad blood or hard feelings, it is simply a case of people going their separate ways.

We would like to thank our audiences in Bilston and London once more, as these last two shows were also Paul´s last gigs with us. They rank as two of our most amazing, incredible and inspiring concerts so far! It´s been one hell of a ride! Paul, we wish you the very best in life and in all the future musical endeavours that are bound to come with it. Bottoms up!

Well, as much as we wish it weren’t so, there’s more sad news to report. Ex Libris will also part ways with drummer Eelco van der Meer. Sometimes things just don’t work out, as unfortunate as it may be. However, we would like to thank Eelco for a great time, a great album and some truly epic gigs. Take care, and we’ll see you around!

VALKYRIAN FESTIVAL: SHOW CANCELLED

As you have probably figured out by now, we’re down from five to three. Does this mean Ex Libris is gone forever? In a word, no. However, as there is currently no way for us to give people the show they expect and deserve, we have decided (with a very, very heavy heart!) to cancel our appearance at the Valkyrian Festival. We cannot stress enough how incredibly difficult this decision has been for us! But the current situation simply leaves us with no other option.

We strive to bring you more news about the future of the band before the end of the year.
