Zephyra, hailing from Sweden, plays melodic metal.
The various influences are taken from thrash, power and melodic death metal.
Zephyra is fronted by female growls and clean vocals.
The band started for real in 2011, with a very clear agenda, moving forward.
Since then, the band has released a couple of EP:s, played shows around Sweden (among others on NEMIS Stage on Metaltown 2012), done live shows on the radio, and frequently been aired on the american Women of Metal Radio Show (Zephyra was also chosen to be their band of the month in february 2013).
Zephyra finds it very important to work with people as eager as themselves, and appreciates the great folks around them.
Hearts and souls are put into the band, and the direction is always forward.
The next natural step is to show the world a well produced album, to break new grounds for the future!
Ravenscry were born in 2008, near Milan, from the encounter between guitarist Paul Raimondi (Hyperion ex-drummer), Fagio on bass and Simon Carminati behind the drums, joined shortly thereafter by guitarist Mauro Paganelli and singer Giulia Stefani.
In March 2009 the band recorded the entire repertoire at Fear Studio in Ravenna (Italy) with Simone Mularoni (Empyrios, DGM) and Simone Bertozzi (Mnemic, Empyrios, The Modern Age Slavery). The work was completed with the vocal parts recorded at Suonovivo (Bergamo, Italy) with Dario Ravelli. All of the material was mixed at Sound of Pisces in Los Angeles by Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Slash, Laura Pausini, Cypress Hill, Alice Cooper as well as labels like EMI and Warner) and mastered by Tom Baker (Judas Priest, Sevendust, Marilyn Manson, Megadeth and many others).
In 2010 Ravenscry presented Nobody’s official video directed by Salvatore Perrone (former director for bands like Exilia, From Autumn to Ashes, August Burns Red, Sick Of It All to name few) and signed to Wormholedeath/Dreamcell11 for the publishing and distribution of the first full length album entitled One Way Out, which was available on April 15th 2011 and was officially presented with a Release Party at Zoe Club in Milan.
After touring across UK and Belgium, the broadcasting of Nobody on japan FM radio Coast FM, Ravenscry signed to the Swedish label The Trip Records Sweden, owned by Peter Uvén (April Divine) and started One Way Out Scandinavian Tour 2011, playing three weeks in Sweden and Finland, stopping by the legendary club Pub Anchor in Stockholm too.
In 2012 One Way Out was released in Japan for Hydrant Music and Calliope official video was also released.
Their style is deliberately modern and integrates influences of components very different from one another: rock, metal, but at the same time leaves room for new influences, such as electronics. The themes of the lyrics are numerous and strong: the base is a cry of protest against a system where meritocracy does not exist and the sacrifice has often an illusory purpose; difficult relationships between parents and children, but also finding themselves, physical pleasure and alienation. Nothing is left out, because music is life and should tell every aspect of it.
Ravenscry played at PPM FEST 2014 in Belgium and their new album, titled The Attraction of Opposites, has been released on May 27th, 2014.

Loud guitars and powerful gritty vocals are the fuel for Rearview Ghost ~ a self proclaimed, “dirty southern hard rock band” ~ led by female vocalist Josia and comprised of guitarist Craig “King of Noise” Shadix and bassist Flip Cooper.

The band features Martin Ledger on guitar, one-time musical partner with Heidi in the duo The Secrets, a rhythm section of Neil Scott and Mostly Autumn alumni Stu Carver, and Dave Randall on keys. Jill Hughes Kirtland author of Not Just Tit’s In a Corset Celebrating Women in Metal will be attending Women of Metal Fest. Now only will Ms. Kirtland be attending she’ll be bringing copies of her book, which you will be able to purchase at the show. Ms. Kirtland has also offered up a copy of the book for raffle that one lucky fan will be able to win at the show.
From Jayson Shell: This isn’t a history book. But it is a march through time that covers Women in Metal in a clear concise and entertaining way. I found the book to be very entertaining. Ms. Kirtland’s heart and soul went into this book and it was quite clear in every word she wrote. She reminded me of bands I had forgotten about and mentioned a few I wouldn’t have thought would even be in a book of this magnitude. There isn’t a fan of Female Metal that shouldn’t read this book! Hat’s off to you, Jill.
About Jill Hughes Kirtland:
The first musician Jill Hughes Kirtland ever interviewed was Edgar Meyer, the GRAMMY award winning classical upright bass player, when she was a freshman at Ithaca College. She knew then she wanted to be a music journalist. In 2007, she started an online magazine for progressive rock & metal (USA Progressive Music), which allowed her to interview many of her favorite musicians and learn the art of concert photography. Around that time, she also became the manager for New Jersey-based progressive metal band Suspyre, and then she donned the hat of tour manager for Shadow Gallery, the progressive metal band based in Pennsylvania, all of this allowing her to immerse herself behind the scenes into the metal music industry. After selling USA Progressive Music in 2010, she traveled all over the world conducting interviews with female metalheads—musicians, fans, promoters, and other behind-the-scenes women—all the while fending for her life in the photo pits at metal concerts. credit: http://www.jillkirtland.com
We look forward to seeing Ms. Kirtland at Women of Metal Fest.
Tuesday night on Insane Realm Radio’s Women of Metal Radio Show Phoenix from Beyond Eden joins Jayson and talks about her band, Their music and Beyond Edens’ participation in Women of Metal Fest.
Bio: With a truly unique sound and powerful lyrics, Beyond Eden takes its listener on journey with every song. They describe their sound as “harder rock fused with R&B undertones and a theatrical edge.” They teamed up with Grammy Nominated producer, writer, and engineer, David Ivory in the spring of 2012 and recorded their first single, “Rosebud War”. The song, which is about domestic violence, has managed to attract the attention of internet magazines, internet radio, and main stream radio stations alike. It will be featured on a charity fundraising compilation CD with Grammy Winning Producer, Gloria Domina in 2013.
In September 2012 the band successfully funded their KICKSTARTER campaign and their dedicated fans helped them raise nearly $1,700 to use towards their EP with David Ivory. They have played with the newly GRAMMY decorated band Halestorm, the Michael Schenker Group, George Lynch, Madam Adam, Sister Sin, and many more. A 3 time nominee and winner of 2011 “Best Loud Rock Performance” in the nationally recognized Lehigh Valley Music Awards, the bands fan base voted and earned them 10 nominations in the 2012 awards. 2 of their songs “Rosebud War” and “Queen of Ice” were nominated and up against each other for best original song. They credit their fans for their success. “They are what makes this ship sail” says their singer Jenn. She was awarded a “Special Recognition” award for her many works with charities throughout the year by the Lehigh Valley Music Award board of directors at the 2012 ceremony. Between writing new songs and touring the band plans to finish their full length album with David Ivory in 2013. This hard working band will undoubtedly make something happen for themselves in the future.
