Titled “Uncovered”, this EP will be released on September 30 in North America (October 6 in Europe) and features the following five tracks:
01. Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers
02. They’re Coming To Take Me Away
03. Don’t Give A Fuck
04. Crazy Horses
05. Pussy Whipped
BUTCHER BABIES‘ cover version of NAPOLEON XIV‘s “They’re Coming To Take Me Away” is available for streaming below.
BUTCHER BABIES‘ Carla Harvey (vocals) comments: “It was a blast recording songs that we have been fans of our entire lives and putting our spin on them.
“We all chose a song that had some significance to us. My pick was ‘They’re Coming To Take Me Away’ by NAPOLEAN XIV, because I have a vivid memory of my stepdad, who I considered completely insane, playing it over and over again on his car stereo when I was a pre-teen. The song is about being taken away to a mental institution. I can still see him tapping his fingers on his steering wheel to the beat…”
BUTCHER BABIES‘ Heidi Shepherd (vocals) adds: “As an eight or nine-year-old little girl, I used to rummage through my parents’ albums and 8-tracks looking for some cool music. In hopes that my parents had at least a little bit of good taste, I would play every single song looking for something that I could latch on to. That’s when I came across ‘Crazy Horses’ by THE OSMONDS; it was the heaviest song I had heard at that age. I would play that song over and over and over again, I was addicted. To this date, it’s still one of my favorite songs and reminds me so much of growing up in Provo, Utah.”
In regards to BUTCHER BABIES‘ cover of THE OSMONDS‘ “Crazy Horses”, Donny Osmond comments: “When we released ‘Crazy Horses”, we were pushing against what THE OSMONDS were known for, but it became a greatest hit. The BUTCHER BABIES have reinvented this song in a creative and innovative way — and that’s what music is about. Now…What if I had recorded ‘Puppy Love’ like this?”

ARIA PLAN FOR OCTOBER RELEASE OF 5 SONG EP “ABANDON”
A new, highly anticipated EP from ARIA. “ABANDON” is due to be released October 2013 and will be available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. The first single off the EP is the feisty, energetic track titled “On My Own.” The video for the track will also premiere September 3rd.
They have been working tirelessly to put together their 3rdrelease. With a debut self-titled EP and their full-length album We Are All Prisoners under their belt, they are fine-tuning their sound and honing their song-writing abilities. Teaming up once again with producer Michael Hatalak of It Dies Today to record the 5 tracks, ARIA also sought the help of co-writers Justin Gammella and Lance Camann to take a new approach.
“I feel like with each year that passes we have a better grasp on what direction we want to go and our goals become more and more specific.” Explains front-woman Bianca Dyrland. “We’ve taken more time to write these 5 songs than we have to write all our older songs combined. We don’t want to just put out music for the sake of putting out music. We want it to be the best representation of who we are now and who we want to become.”
The first single “On My Own” is bold and unfeigned, exposing a little more aggression and candor than most other ARIA songs. The song makes a big statement, calling out a friend or possibly former lover for abandoning her in a time of need, which ties in with the title and theme of the record.
“I was just trying to think of my overall state of mind during the writing process. I was feeling an overwhelming sense of abandonment both internally and externally and all the songs seemed to reflect that. So the word Abandon kind of just punched me in the face.”Elaborates Bianca on the title and theme.
ARIA is currently booking a stretch of tour dates in the eastern half of the United States that they will announce in the coming weeks to promote the release and expand their audience. The band will be touring as far southwest as Texas and working their way back up along the coast.
