BREAKING: Band Line-Up for Women of Metal Fest I Announced!

womenofmetalfestbannerlg(1)Featuring: Beyond Eden, Writing Off Tomorrow, Theatrum Mundi, Midnight Eternal, MindMaze, A Sound of Thunder, Leeja Stark and Lies, Inc. Presented by Sardonyx Productions.  Hosted by DJ Jayson Shell of Insane Realm Radio’s Women of Metal Show.

Women of Metal Fest I is a day-long festival that, like a forge, provides the fires for mixing metals of diverse beauty and power. Fans of cutting-edge symphonic metal will find much to love in Midnight Eternal (featuring Mike LePond from Symphony X) and Theatrum Mundi (winner, Best New Band from 2013 Female Fronted Metal Show with Brian Dade). Power metal aficionados will delight in A Sound of Thunder and MindMaze. Writing Off Tomorrow alternates growls and screams with soaring vocals, or explore the dark side of melody with bands Beyond Eden and Leeja Stark, whose industrial metal dances on the edge of madness. Lies, Inc. indulges in all of the dark arts of metal, appealing to fans of hard rock, punk, and progressive metal.

All Ages / Doors at 2pm / $10 in advance / $12 day-of-show

Midnight Eternal is a female fronted symphonic metal band based out of New York City/New Jersey. The band formed in March 2014 when two members of Operatika (Richard Fischer and Boris Zaks) invited Daniel Prestup (of Rivera Bomma and Spider Rockets) and Mike LePond (of Symphony X) to record a two song single. The current line-up of Midnight Eternal includes Raine Hilai on lead vocals (Raine has been involved in theatre and various musical ensembles, as well as solo work), Richard Fischer on guitars and vocals, Daniel Prestup on drums, Mike LePond on bass guitar, and Boris Zaks on keyboards. http://www.midnighteternal.com/

Beyond Eden describes their sound as “harder rock fused with R&B undertones and a theatrical edge.” They teamed with Grammy Nominated producer, writer, and engineer, David Ivory in the spring of 2012 and recorded their first single, “Rosebud War,” about domestic violence. The song has attracted the attention of internet magazines, internet radio, and main stream radio stations. It was featured on a charity fundraising compilation CD with Grammy Winning Producer, Gloria Domina in 2013. The band has played with GRAMMY decorated band Halestorm, the Michael Schenker Group, George Lynch, Madam Adam, Sister Sin, and many more. http://www.beyondedenrocks.com/

A Sound of Thunder is a Washington DC based, female fronted heavy metal band. The four piece band consists of Josh Schwartz on guitar, Nina Osegueda on vocals, Jesse Keen on bass, and Chris Haren on drums. A Sound of Thunder conquers metal realms ranging from ’70s blues-based proto-metal a la Black Sabbath and early Judas Priest, to triumphant modern power metal a la Hammerfall and Primal Fear. Soaring vocals, incendiary instrumentals, and classic songs combine to form an unrelenting, unapologetic slab of metal to stand the test of time. http://www.asoundofthunderband.com/#!

Leeja Stark is an industrial electronic metal band from Pittsburgh, PA. Formed in 2012, the band found its sound through lyrics about love, hate, and the supernatural world. Songwriters Leeja and Bret Stark bring very different influences to the band; Bret has a symphonic metal music background with influences like Nightwish and Within Temptation, while Leeja has an obsession with vampires, demons, and the supernatural. Their video for the single Symptoms of Insanity received almost 200,000 views in the first 24 hours on YouTube. Leeja also co-wrote the song Charming Arms with producer/musician Christopher Lee Simmonds (Filter, Thought Industry, Good Charlotte). Expect live shows and new music early summer (2014). www.leejastark.com.

Lies, Inc.In the realm of the corporate world, there are fallacies so devious that it would take a certain kind of seedy corporation to cover-up and encourage such deceits. Enter Lies, Inc., a four piece progressive metal machine with a chairwoman at its front. Through a combination of hard rock, punk, metal, and progressive, Lies, Inc. ensnares its listeners with sheer skill and driving force. With catchy hooks and an aggressive edge, this band brings a powerful female-fronted presence to the music scene. Lies, Inc. consists of Jarrett Bickel (guitar), Ron Brode (drums), Lily Taylor (vocals), and Kent Tonkin (bass). www.liesincorporated.com, www.liesincrocks.com, https://www.facebook.com/Liesincrocks/app_2405167945

Leeja Stark – Female Voices of Metal (March 1, 2014)

Leeja Stark
Leeja Stark

Leeja Stark is an industrial metal band from Pittsburgh PA. Formed by lead singer Leeja Stark in early 2013. After a few trial and errors they found almost instant chemistry among current members; Ryan Martin (guitar), Thor Lesnock (drums), and Mitch Meverden (bass). The band has since released a 5 song EP with producer/ song writer Bret Stark. They also released their first music video to single Symptoms of Insanity.

Songs about love, hate and the supernatural world, Stark finds inspiration for songs in everyday life. The House of Eyes EP reveals dark lyrics but pop hooks falling into an electro industrial metal realm.

Stark has recently found success through the internet. Their first video receiving 199,000 youtube views in the first 24 hours. They then went on to become Insane Realm Radio’s Women of Metal Shows September 2013 band of the month. And were interviewed by various publications nationwide.

You can find Stark playing in and around the PIttsburgh area for the next few months. During this time they will be launching a kickstarter campaign promoting a video series to their first EP. If the series is funded they will begin recording right away and also begin writing and recording a full album.

Leeja Stark (STARK) On Women of Metal Show 9/14/2013

Leeja Stark
Leeja Stark

Leeja Stark from our September 2013 Band of the Month (STARK) joins Jayson Shell for a live conversation this Saturday 9/21/2013 only on The Women of Metal Radio Show on Insane Realm Radio

STARK is an electronic/industrial rock band based in Pittsburgh, PA. The band was formed by songwriter Leeja Stark for a dark dancey sound.

Leeja has had many songwriting collaborations but STARK is really about unleashing the dark side of her songwriting. Lyrics about love and hate, supernatural beings, sex, and violence hold their own within the synth driven beats.

STARK’s songwriter Leeja had the lyrics and melody’s. The dark dancey sound that evolved just seemed the best way to bring the words to life. When other musicians became interested, the band evolved further becoming industrial, heavy, dark and dancey.
