Hayley Leggs of TotalRock Radio conducted an interview with vocalist Cristina Scabbia of Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL at this year’s edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August 7-10 at Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, West Midlands, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

LACUNA COIL‘s latest studio album, “Broken Crown Halo”, sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on April 1 via Century Media.

“Broken Crown Halo” was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD). The effort was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include RAMMSTEIN, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, DEFTONES and SHERYL CROW.

Asked if she is satisfied with how “Broken Crown Halo” has been received by the fans and music critics alike, Scabbia told GetYourRockOut: “I’m very happy. Honestly, when we put out records, we don’t really think about the response we could have or what people could think about it, not because we don’t care about the music press or the fans at all, because we love our fans and the press, but it was more like a self -therapy. It’s like writing a diary and translating it with words and music for us. So if people like it, good. If people don’t like it, I mean, it’s just like, we’ve been honest and we put out something that we think is honest from our side. We could have repeated ourselves over and over with older albums, just because people like them and just like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be good, because it’s gonna be sounding kind of like that.’ But we’re just not like that. So I’m totally happy that people [are] liking it. I think it’s a great combination between our roots and the new influences, because you want to evolve as well.”

LACUNA COIL is currently touring as a quintet following the departures of guitarist Cris “Pizza” Migliore and drummer Cristiano “Criz” Mozzati. Marco “Maus” Biazzi is handling all guitar duties for the band while drummer Ryan Blake Folden is sitting behind the kit.

LACUNA COIL To Release Broken Crown Halo In April, Announce U.S. Tour

Lacuna Coil

Lacuna Coil have set Apr. 1 as the release date for their new studio album Broken Crown Halo. The album will be released through Century Media. The band had me pretty intrigued by how the described the recording process in a press release:

“We locked ourselves in an age-old studio in Milan, Italy, where history was strong and the past met with our future, vintage gear and the influence of classic Italian horror movies and bands like Goblin meeting the fresh and rough sounds of the modern world with unique and invigorating results. Broken Crown Halo is Lacuna Coil introducing a new order, and letting nothing stand in our way…”

I’m definitely going to give it a listen when I can! However, before the band drops the new record, they’ll be supporting Sick Puppies (and opened up for by Eyes Set to Kill and Cilver) on the Revolver Hottest Chicks In Rock Tour. The tour dates are as follows:
